After someone asked me in the italian forum how I came about hearing Filippo, I was curious to hear how everyone else first heard him that was not in Italy or in a Spanish speaking country.
My first encounter with his music was "Tan Solo Tú" (Sei Solo Tu) with Laura Pausini. After that I searched the internet for information about him & the rest is history.
Cheers.
My first impression: Laura Non C'e', 1997.
I liked it, but the really passion began in 2000, when I started learning Italian and I could finally understand the lyrics

I agree, in Italian it is SO much better. I speak spanish & heard his songs first in spanish, but 'non e la stessa cosa' he sings with more passion in italian. So, I have been learning italian by listening to his music :D
But that's a great way of learning the language, really (at least: it was for me, I hope u can agree  ). Esp. listening to Nek's songs, coz the lyrics are really beutiful and the language is so poetic :D
My story is quite the same as Pauli's...
Laura non c'č in 1997... then I bought the cd's Lei, gli amici... and in due... I liked his music a lot, and in 1998 I spoke italian well enough to understand the lyrics.... and when I heard In te for the first time I knew that he was the best! even if this song is rather old... it thouches my heart!
anyway, welcome here! nice to meet you!
Judy

Totally! I LOVE that song (In Te). It is really touching, & has brought me to tears a few times. Still, I must say that my favourite song of his is "Se io non avessi te".

Paulkinka from Polonia, I must say, I have had many Polish friends. Some of the best people I know, I might add. Great friends, great people. I have a lot of respect for your country and its people. :D
Cheers
First song what I heard was Laura non c'e in the radio. I love Sting's music too, and he is very popular here. He likes singing his songs different languages, and I thought I can hear him. But I didn't know this song, so I picked up the phone, and asked the DJ, who's that. It was (maybe) in 1996. My passion started in 1998 I brought his all albums and since 2000 I've written some articles about his music, and made the Hungarian website. :)
Actually, I don't know what is my fave from him. When I can hear Nek' songs it is always has canged. This time maybe Abbracciami.
Ciao.

You guys are lucky in Europe, that they play a nice variety of music, because here if it is not in English they will not play it on the radio.
carendon71
27-05-05, 15:51
If I did not know spanish I never would have heard his music.
Thank God for the internet also!
Ooww, that sounds familiar! It is the same here, just let's change the English to bring so much money=PAYING! :?
carendon71

You are right about the "so much money" - $24.00 for "L'Anno Zero" because it was an import CD. I hope that "Una Parte Di Me" will be availiable on MSN Music.
Carendon, I'm very glad u have such a good opinion abt the Polish people  It's always very nice hearing good things abt one's country
And as to songs played in radio & tv in Europe; I think about 95% of all the music played is either in English or in the national language; songs in Italian, German or Spanish come up very rarely, sometimes French music is played, but also not too often...
Mandy, here in Poland there's only one known Hungarian song (and it's veeery old); "The girl with pearl hair" by Omega, could u pls wirte how is it called in Hungarian, coz I always forget the original title?

The Spanish (From Spain) radio stations that I listen too usually have a great variety, but yes, most is in English
Of course Pau! This is: Gyöngyhajú lány. :D
  $24.00????! Hah, it is expensive a bit, right? But I have to tell, you're lucky. This cd is available at least, coz we cannot buy it, I mean in Eastern Europe just from Internet. :?
carendon71
27-05-05, 16:52
Yes, at least I could find it and didn't have to pay euros for it. That would have doubled the price.
Do you have all his albums? :?: :)
carendon71
27-05-05, 17:10
Sadly, no. It is difficult to find them here in America.
Ow, what a pity! I would be wonder what do you think about his 1st album. :) I created a new topic for it.
carendon71
27-05-05, 17:42
I know, I wish I could find more of his stuff here.
Oh well.
Im afraid my story isn't much different than the other girls! Saw & heard Laura in 1997, a strong voice, beautifully sang, that song was quite a hype here, while i heard pple talking abt him at school etc, all i could remember was this song. I was singing it 24/7   What a year!
carendon71
27-05-05, 19:08
Blimey, I didn't know that song was so popular!
That is cool.
Yeah, it has been a big hit for so long time. 8)
Hm...Nek...I guess, he isn't so popular in Croatia...but I love him. Allthough I live in a small town my friend Jasmina and I really know much about him. On one croatian musical show I heard song SEI SOLO TU (feat.Laura Pausini). At once I liked the song, as well as Nek himself
And I started to look about him trough Internet. It is not so good that his CDs aren't avaliable in croatian stores...but I can manage...INTERNET again
So my friend and I try to expend the circle of fans in Croatia (I wish that Nek can read this line, haha)...I'm happy that he realised this new cd Una parte di me...courently my best song is Una Parte Di Me...but it's very hard to say wich is my favourite...from In Te to Lascia Che Io Sia...I don't know..they are all good....I can understand minimum italinan words but I'm planning to learn italian, I'm sure!!
You see how Nek has very positive influence on young minds, haha. I also heard some spanish versions and I consider them good, because in my opinion both italian and spanish are very musical languages...(sorry about the long comment  )
Long comments are the best
As to me, I like the Spanish versions as well. I'm studying philology and I'm quite interested in theory of translation, that's why I like comparing Italian & Spanish lyrics and see how the translator worked
Currently my fave song is Una parte di me as well  But what I like the most, is listening again to the songs of Nek I hadn't heard for a long time, coming back to the old albums, esp. Calore umano :D
yeag...you see...I don't have any album of Nek because they are unavailable in Croatia..but I like hearing these old songs that I download from Internet...I like arrangements of songs the best (guitar etc.)...especially in le cose da difendere...
I see Nek first time one 31 december (1996) in a Spanish TV show. He was so young! I have the video and I have seen it lots of times! I can't avoit it! :red: He sang "Laura no está" and since that performance.... I LOVE HIM!!!! :p
Pau, I'm sure you will have a good reason that's why you can hear this album again! :D
Klara you mean, he likes acoustic guitar. Agree with ya. :)
Hihi... Marta I have this spanish version too, but I prefer Ita-version indeed. :P
Not every singer can sing/play accustic, coz its much more difficult!
But nek sings this fantastic, he just has the voice for it......
Wow Nek have what it takes :D:D:D He only need an Spanish girlfriend and he will have all he needs... hahahaha (It's a joke... ) hehe :P
eh, dee, when will we start talking about the 2nd album???

Well, after a long holiday weekend (Finally got to go to the Beach :D ), I am back & am pleased to see all of your comments.
Paulinka, I find what you are doing (about the translations, that is) interesting, and was actually thinking about that this morning, about how some of the translations are so different. Others such as Sei Solo Tu & Tutto di Te are an almost exact replica in Italian. I would like to hear more about what you think about the matter. I don't know if you want to start a new forum for that or what. But let me know.
Cheers!
Greetings from Mexico, well I first met Nek in 1998, I knew all his songs but the problem was that I didn´t knew who sang them until one day one friend told me and I became a huge fan of him, to the point to love him as everyone else.
Kisses,
Sofía Vana-iel
Hi carendon!
You know, in fact I don't speak Spanish, or better: I've never learnt it. But knowing Italian quite good, it's not a problem to understand written Spanish, so I guess I can make such comparisons.
You're right, there are lots of songs in Spanish which are almost literal translations of the Italian versions. Sometimes it's really very easy, coz the two languages are so similar (e.g. "Almeno stavolta" = "Al menos ahora").
I was just wondering, who makes these translations? Maybe it's written somewhere in the booklets of spanish albums of nek (I don't know, coz I only have the italian ones).
BTW: the same is with songs of Laura Pausini, they also have their spanish versions, or (as you said) replica  E.g. La mia risposta = Mi respuesta.
I know translating song lyrics isn't easy; it's almost like translating poetry... And I guess making such exact translations is possible only because Italian &spanish are so similar; I don't think it would be so precise if translated in English for example
Anyway, I have to take a look at the spanish lyrics once again, coz I don't know them as well as the original ones...
Have a nice weekend

Hey everybody, I have been SOOOOOOOOOO busy these past days that I have not had time to go online :( so, sorry if I have not replied.
Anyways, Paulinka, translating works of art is really difficult, yes. I took a translation course (Spanish - English) in school & can truly say that. So, cheers to whomever translates the songs.

hey, cla... don't worry... being busy just happens.... we'll always be here waiting for your replies... we won't run away!!!
I think we're all addicts of this forum.....
Yeah, carendon, I've translated a couple of nek's songs in English as well, so I know what you mean... From the pure linguistic point of view it wasn't hard, but "translating" the mood of the song and the energy it gives was much more difficult.
I don't know if you speak italian; if so - you can take a look at the topic judy has started on italian forum, we're talking there with the italians... just to get to know what do they think abt the idea of translating nek's songs in English for the non-italian speaking fans

Cool, I will have to check that forum out.
Are you done with your exams in School yet?
carendon71
09-06-05, 15:23
BTW, what is the forum called?
:| No, unfortunately not... Still 2 exams to go, pretty hard ones
I don't dispair, but it seems I won't be able to be here as often as I would like to in the next days (till June 20th, speriamo bene  )

Yeah, this is like one of the busiest times of the year. Well, good luck on the difficult ones ;)
laura non c'e' and/ or tu mi dai... i heard it on radio fama. nobody could tell me what was that song, wher did it come from and who sings it. then i accidently found la vita e' mp3 in my collegue's collection and i finally knew who's that great singer!
You mean the topic I was talking abt?
It's called "X nek o webmaster! Idea per il sito". (Coz u know, at first judy thought that it would be a good idea to put the translations online, so that nek fans could read it here, at the official web site. But - as u can imagine - no reply...).
Kuba, "Tu mi dai" on Polish radio? Hihi, a to ci dopiero...
radio fama - niestety tylko w kielcach, ale czesto gra neka! jak na polskie warunki oczywiscie ;-).
nek would be more popular in this radio if they have only hired me ...
but i didn't make it through the casting :/
first time I heard Nek about 5 years ago.."La vita e" , "Se una regula ce..","Laura non ce"
Amazing !!! I still like ALL songs of Nek. This music is needed by my soul!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Na Trójce też go kiedyś słyszałam...
Don't worry, Q, they don't know what they are loosing
  They didn't take ya?!!!! Im with Pau!!! They should have thought twice before rejecting ya
i was shocked 'cause my friend worked there (well actually 2 friends). and i have a quite nice voice ;-) (that's what girls say :D).
anyway, someday i surely will work for a radio (i would die supprised if i don't - i worked 4 newspaper, tv, so now it's time for ... ;) )
and i don't regret it - media aren't the best place to make career in kielce. my paper went down, the same thing happend to tv... maybe that's why they didn't hire me ;-)
ya r an expert Kuba, im sure ya will make it big one day!!!! 8) And i will be listening ya 24/7 hihihihihi......
