hi girls!! somebodi has written this in the Spanish forum..I think it's russian or like this..can u translate this, please??
thanks!!! tomatoes :*********

Buffy_The_Slayer
13-09-05, 20:49
procrasti...what????
carendon71
14-09-05, 13:42
procrastinating - putting things off until the last minute
Buffy_The_Slayer
14-09-05, 14:21
well, at least one of us isn't procrastinating.... (wow.. what a word  ) reminds me a bit of supercalifragelisticexpialidoucious....
carendon71
14-09-05, 14:38
:P
Hey, that is a REALLY common word here.
Wonder why
Buffy_The_Slayer
14-09-05, 16:59
 yeah....
but isn't there a simpler word? anyway, I'll stick to that,....sounds realyy... important
carendon71
14-09-05, 17:12
Shorter word????
Lazy??? :P
But, it doesn't have the same meaning.
Buffy_The_Slayer
14-09-05, 21:52
see, and it surely doesn't sound as important.. in fact actually procrast.... sound terribly busy...
carendon71
15-09-05, 13:23
Well, yeah, procrastinators are usually VERY busy with doing nothing
Buffy_The_Slayer
15-09-05, 14:28
hmm.. you're right
carendon71
15-09-05, 15:31
Nothing like having your priorities mixed up :P
Was that Portuguese? :D
I guess u said sth like: "You are saying ya can translate from every language, so can you understand what am I saying now?"... Dunno exactly, I've lost that message somewhere...anyway, it looks similar to italian :D
Buffy_The_Slayer
16-09-05, 08:58
carlos, I would NEVER get my priorities mixed up.... the first thing I do when I put on the pc in order to study is to log on and check the forum....
Pau, I am really curious to find out what cuba exactly refers to when saying "any language"....
carendon71
16-09-05, 13:50
Was that Portuguese?
Yeah, & yup, it was something like that. ;)
the first thing I do when I put on the pc in order to study is to log on and check the forum
Me 2 :P
carendon71
16-09-05, 14:11
Portuguese is more like Latin than Spanish is, so that is probably why it looks like Italian.
Alot of things are the same.
Mmm, but the pronunciation is crazy, huh? Szeleszcząca ;)
the first thing I do when I put on the pc in order to study is to log on and check the forum
Me 2 :P
Me 3 :P
carendon71
16-09-05, 18:31
Szeleszcząca
What????
 what a pity Kuba-the-translator is gone :P
Anyway, "szeleszcząca" is a Polish adjective (pronounced [sheleshchonsa]), it is used to decribe sounds like "sh" "ch" and so on... there are lots of sounds like that in Polish and from what I've heard, in Portuguese as well... I mean: that's what I thought after watching a bit of Portuguese tv, but maybe I'm wrong...
carendon71
16-09-05, 19:05
O yeah. Most of the "S" are the "Sh" sound.
Like the word "Anjos" you would say it "ahnjoosh"
The letter "X" is a "Ch" sound.
Xavier = "Chavier"
Well, in Spanish (Spanish from Spain that is) it is like the same.
Oh, yeah, so I was right :D
I also know the pronunciation from the Portuguese football players' names, ya know ;)
Or soccer, if ya prefer to call it this way :P
carendon71
16-09-05, 19:10
I know what you mean
Luis Figo
At least Figo is pronounced as Figo ;)
Never mind the Louis(h) ;)
carendon71
16-09-05, 19:15
:P
Yeah. But you get used to it.
You know, I've been meaning to ask you, so just HOW many languages DO you speak?
Or understand.
Buffy_The_Slayer
16-09-05, 19:16
uupps... okay then I think I'll have to tell our commentator on tv how to pronounce portuguese names....
carendon71
16-09-05, 19:16
:P Go teach him how it's done.
The WORST, though, have to be the English
They make NO effort whatsoever.
Buffy_The_Slayer
16-09-05, 19:19
well, our commentators are very poor in foriegn languges too.... example: barrichello is ponounced barikello right? and they say: barichello... or "drive through penalty" is the worst: the stress in penalty is in first position - but they stress the A in 2nd position.... ugh! :?
carendon71
16-09-05, 19:22
I guess it's really tough if you don't know the language :?
But my fav has to be when the english say:
"Foul by Raul"
Where Foul & Raul both rhyme :P
Yeah, sure. I think Portuguese sounds cute
Actually, I speak English, German & Italian. Well, and Latin, if ya count it as a language :P I can understand a bit of written Spanish and French (ya know, the bit that one can understand knowing italian & latin ;) ). Once I had that idea to learn Greek  By now I only got to know the alphabet, though ;)
As to the sport commentators: I must really admit that ours do try to pronounce the foreign names properly... Though if the match is sooooooo fascinating and the action is fast, their tongues sometimes go weird
carendon71
16-09-05, 19:25
Latin, if ya count it as a language
Of course!!!!
What would I be speaking today if it weren't for latin???
Right you are! :) I have always said that it's the basis language for all languages I know. A pity ya can't communicate in Latin though :/
I only learned Latin at the univ, can't say I know it excellent... The grammar is quite tricky, I would say ;)
Buffy_The_Slayer
16-09-05, 19:37
oh, god, yeah... NCI or ACI or the best thing was the ablativus absolutus... I never recognized it... but we DID communicate, once we wrote a letter in latin to our latin teacher! that was funny! :P
my fav sentence is: ego sum lux mundi....
carendon71
16-09-05, 19:38
You're the light of the world?
And mine: Gutta cavat lapidem non vi, sed saepe cadendo ;)
Buffy_The_Slayer
16-09-05, 19:45
of course, carlos.. didn't you know....?
jesus said that once too....
