I have a crazy :?: for either one of you.
Yesterday as I'm having Kielbasa for dinner I'm thinking: "Is this really Polish food, or is it an American thing?"
Because like our Chinese food is not really what they eat in china, Italian food not what they have in italy, etc.
Is that really your typical food?

Told you it's a crazy question :P

Emi
18-08-05, 14:27
waitin eagerly for their answer

Oh, BTW, Kuba & Paulinka:
September is just a few days from now

QbeCK
18-08-05, 15:35
yes, we have kiełbasa in poland, but i'm not so sure it's originally from here

carendon71
18-08-05, 15:39

Paulinka
18-08-05, 17:37
Ow, actually it's not one & only kiełbasa, there are many different types of it...
Ya know, something like French cheese  We have: krakowska, podwawelska, śląska, ogonówka, żywiecka, kabanosy...
Unfortunately I don't eat either of them, coz I'm definitely not a kiełbasa-fan :|
But the types I've mentioned are surely original Polish ones and I know many Polish people living abroad who keep buying them in Polish stores abroad... They say Polish kiełbasa is the best, but it's not me who can judge it, coz I personally find it disgusting ;)

carendon71
18-08-05, 19:00
They say Polish kiełbasa is the best

They have my vote, that's for sure. I LOVE Kielbasa

Paulinka
18-08-05, 19:22

Emi
18-08-05, 19:58

Chili
18-08-05, 21:50
i'm afraid it's not cheeese, Emi...
Pau, is this the same as russian kolbasa?..

Paulinka
18-08-05, 22:34
Yes, Giu, it's the same ;)
Noooo Emi, Giu is right - it's NOT cheese  I just used this comparison to show how many types of it we have
Kiełbasa is more likely a sausage. And that's why I don't like it, coz I'm generally not si into meat

Chili
18-08-05, 22:40
mmm.....no meat at all?? no way?..

Paulinka
18-08-05, 23:17
No, not AT ALL

Paulinka
19-08-05, 17:09
oh, thank God, I'm not that choosy and I can live in wrocław happily even without this wonderful&one&only mustard :P

22-08-05, 13:52
Yeah, that would be alot.......

QbeCK
22-08-05, 14:31
anyway american nationality wouldn't change u for worse i hope ;-)

Emi
22-08-05, 15:57
i dont think i would change at all

carendon71
22-08-05, 19:29
Why would you?

QbeCK
22-08-05, 20:46

It is good to get to know the food of other cultures.

QbeCK
25-08-05, 17:50

carendon71
25-08-05, 17:51

QbeCK
28-08-05, 16:52

Julia/Graves
28-08-05, 18:17

QbeCK
28-08-05, 18:58

Chili
28-08-05, 20:51

carendon71
29-08-05, 19:50
He doesn't want to let it go. :?

carendon71
29-08-05, 19:51
This forum is probably the reason why I've had burgers like 4 days in a row :P

Julia/Graves
29-08-05, 19:52
As a health Nut!!!! bad bad bad!!!!!!!!!!

carendon71
29-08-05, 19:57
I know, I know.
But I've been going on the bike all these days twice as long to make up for it :P

carendon71
29-08-05, 19:58
You know, the other day I went to McDonalds & I felt SO stupid 'cuz I ordered a salad.
Then I saw this one guy walk in who was like 5x my size :P
I then felt good about that salad

Julia/Graves
29-08-05, 20:00
thats good! The key those is lots of protein, lean protein like chicken or fish......

carendon71
29-08-05, 20:04
:? That is the problem. I don't fancy chicken nor fish.
Unless it's Salmon or Tuna.

Julia/Graves
29-08-05, 20:16
Salmon is good. I don't like any other fish myself..... :?

I drink a protein shake everyday after my work out to get enough protein every day

carendon71
29-08-05, 20:18
A Protein shake, eh?
I'll have to try that.

Julia/Graves
29-08-05, 20:20
I get mine from GNC

carendon71
29-08-05, 20:24
Hmm...I think we have one of those in the Commons here.
I'll have to go check.

Julia/Graves
29-08-05, 20:28
the kind I use is the GNC mega whey protein. It has 40 grams of protein, it doesn't taste to bad. I get the choclate. I mix mine with water though. I don't want the added calories of the milk. I count my calories every day too. I have to have only 1400 or so, with 140 grams of protein!!!!! Yes I know, I obsessed!!! A good obsession to have if I do say so myself.........It pays off!

carendon71
29-08-05, 20:33
Yeah, that is a good thing to be obsessed about.
I'm trying to obesess about it a little more.

Chili
29-08-05, 21:53
Look at those guys!!! they seem to find each other!! just bla bla abt gyms, prteins, coctails...etcc..

carendon71
30-08-05, 13:27
What can I say?
That stuff is important.

QbeCK
30-08-05, 19:55
bet it ain't that important at all, it's just abt lifestyle...

Julia/Graves
30-08-05, 20:34
Lifestyle yes! But a healthy one!! It is important, atleast to me it is...........

Paulinka
30-08-05, 20:35
Oh geez that reminds me that awful protein drink I tasted the other day!
Guys, it was completely disgusting! :x The thing is that I hate vegetables drinks and this one was made of tomatoes, paprica, broccoli and God only knows what more
I mean: excellent for a salad - but not for a drink :x

Julia/Graves
30-08-05, 20:39
YUCK!!!!!!!!

The kind I drink is chocolate. It's not half bad. Trust me, I've gone through many different kinds to find a good one. Atleast one to tolerate. Granted it's not like a "real" shake with icecream or whatever, but it will do. It's a MAJOR part in my weight training. I mean the food that I take in on a daily basis.

 It just depends on your goals and what "look" your going for??

Chili
30-08-05, 22:08
hm...well, okay, and what happen if ya stop drink all that stuff???

Julia/Graves
30-08-05, 22:23
You see in order to gain muscle you aside from the lifting weights, you have to have a lot of protein intake on a daily basis. It's based on your height, weight, age, body mass index.....how many grams per day of protein that is. Also you calories too. In oder to lose weight you must bulid muscle. Muscle boosts your metabolism, which helps to burn fat. You must have a large amount of protein every day to obtain this. I must have 140 grams per day. I can only eat so much chicken and fish. So I supplement it with a protein shake. If I stop getting the 140 grams of protein per day, then I lose muscle, and gain FAT!!!!! I don't want fat so this is why I need lots and lots of protein....

Chili
30-08-05, 22:27
OMG! better i did not ask this question, coz is too complicated for me..

Julia/Graves
30-08-05, 22:28
Sorry, once you get me going I don't stop! Didn't mean to complicate things......

Chili
30-08-05, 22:30
now, just i thought...could not one just get some muscles without all those protein coctails? when one just wants some better shape but without any fanatism, ya know..

Julia/Graves
30-08-05, 22:36
The protein intake helps...........It also depends on the person, their body, how their made to begin with? Some people are naturally built with muscles and they don't have to work out much. I say if you want to be in shape or lose weight. Dieting alone doesn't work. Well, you might lose the weight. But without exercising the weight will come back just as fast as you lost it!

Chili
30-08-05, 22:38
okkay, but i was talking exactly on the contrary - abt excersing but without taking coctails or whatever..

Julia/Graves
30-08-05, 22:42
you can do it, I suppose, for me it would be harder with what I do on a daily basis

Chili
30-08-05, 22:44
i see...so, ya mean that ya can't stop? if ya don't want to get some weight back, right?

Julia/Graves
30-08-05, 22:48
Right!! muscle gets rid of fat

you build muscle through weights and by protein lots of it! if I didn't get the protein I needed every day, then I'd start to get more fat than muscle

Chili
30-08-05, 22:51
i see....i must say it sucks in a way...

Julia/Graves
30-08-05, 22:53
Sure does...........it's a daily thing..........takes hard work.......

I gotta run to the store for a few things. I'm dreading it, it's pooring rain.... :?

You be here later??? Or will it be too late? I suppose I'll find out!

c-ya!

Chili
30-08-05, 22:55
Lia, i'm afraid i won't be here, coz it's already midnight here so i'm going to sleep, have a good day, see ya!!

carendon71
31-08-05, 13:50
Julia, the forums' personal trainer
Just as long as you don't start charging us for this, keep going ;)

Julia/Graves
31-08-05, 15:50
I am!!! That would be me!!!!!!!!! No charging, that is until I get my own web site going when I will actually have on line PT. Then I will be asking for the $$

carendon71
31-08-05, 17:38
Hear that people?
Ask away now before she changes her mind :P

Julia/Graves
31-08-05, 19:15
yep!

carendon71
31-08-05, 19:18
OK, question #1:
What are the best cardio workouts?
Right now I'm just going on the bike while watching "King of Queens"
I LOVE Leah Remini

Paulinka
31-08-05, 19:27
What's King of Queens? Sth we may know? ;)

Julia/Graves
31-08-05, 19:27
haha!

I preferr walking and running on the treadmill......bike is good...

I'm not into that aerobic shit! Yeah, if you could've been a fly on the wall to see me at my friends "advanced" aerobic class!!!! HAAAAAAAA!! I crack up at myself just thinking about it! It was that step aerobics, I almost broke my neck!!

It's really whatever you like. The main thing though when you do cardio or any other type of exercise you're not doing the same amount of time and intensity every time. You must switch it up, make it harder go less amount of time..........longer time etc.

You don't want your body to get used to doing the same thing over and over otherwise it will come ineffectice and you may as well not do it at all. Same goes for weight training, doing the same weights, you will never get stronger....

carendon71
31-08-05, 19:31
King of Queens is a TV show starring Kevin James, the guy from the movie "Hitch" with Will Smith, & my all-time fav Leah Remini.

I Love walking too, but when it's not nice out, what can you do?
 What did you do to almost break your neck?

Julia/Graves
31-08-05, 19:34
hahahaaah! Trying to step up and down and sidways and all over the place with those little plat forms they use!!!! I'm telling it was nuts!

Here is was like 20 at the time, these 80 year old women were in there doing everything to the T, it was a trip! They were putting me to shame!! :?

carendon71
31-08-05, 19:38
:P
That sucks!
Like this one time I went skating on a wed. night.
Only old people, but they could skate like 1000x better than me :P
I had to leave.

Julia/Graves
31-08-05, 19:41
ya know??????? thats why Aerobics is not for me! I'll stick to my weights and treadmill  .......It does the job.........

carendon71
31-08-05, 19:44
Yeah.
:( I miss doing weights.

Julia/Graves
31-08-05, 19:57
why don't ya do it anymore??

carendon71
31-08-05, 20:00
Gym is too expensive. I'm already spending too much on gas :P

Julia/Graves
31-08-05, 20:14
It can be.....mine is only $29 a month, month to month with no contracts

carendon71
31-08-05, 20:17

I'll be there at 10 am, I have no idea what time that will be for you?????? You could probably look it up on the internet. Time converters from where you are to Indianpolis time......

I'm there Mon-Fri, usually me and my work-out partner/friend are the only 2 girl around at that time so you can't miss us!!!

Haha! I don't care if you spy!!!! 8) :D :P

Julia/Graves
01-09-05, 15:28
I'm showing off at 10, it's 8:30 now :D

OK I might sound stupid but I'm not sure the time zone?? Part of the reason why is Indiana is the only state that doesn't have day light savings time. So when the rest of the world changed, we stayed the same. Although next year we'll have it finally.............

carendon71
01-09-05, 15:31

02-09-05, 23:29
hah, Pau, normally i adore to sleep this hour too, but since 2 years ago i've got unpleasant memories abt this additional hour.... Wanna know why?
2 years ago, it was October, i was in Italy, and was leaving to Vienna from Milano, and i had my flight very early in the morming - smth abt 7 a.m., so, as ya can guess i had to be at the aiport 2-1,5 hour prior to departure...And i also had to get to Milano from Rome first (was such a stupid thing of me to take flights from Milano, i understood my mistake later)...So....i arrived to Milano Centrale from Rome smth abt 00:00, and i was a bit slow with orientation and with collecting my things from the train...so, till the time i found the stop for shuttle buses to a/p, i just saw the last bus showing me its "back"...Well, i said, okay, i can wait in the waiting hall, is not a big deal...
But ya know what??? These f**** guys from the train station they closed it around 1 a.m., of coz asking all the pple to get out and wait outside, and outside it was soooooo cold!!! And they were going to open the waiting hall only smth around 3 or 4 a.m. And, it happened that it was that very night when all the world changes the time...Soooo, can ya imagine, what i had to bear while waiting outside, when it was extremely cold, and waiting one hour MORE??...i got cold to the bones, and till the time they opened that shit hall, i thought i'd die... :?
but despite this, of coz i like to sleep it...

Paulinka

Buffy_The_Slayer
09-09-05, 18:19

carendon71

Buffy_The_Slayer
